NYX Cosmetics Review : Volume One

NYX
Today I dedicate one lengthy post talking about all NYX cosmetics that I own and love (so far). I have to say that NYX is an impressive, affordable and cruelty-free make-up line that everybody loves, I mean, are there any make-up addicts who don't love this brand?

My very first encounter of NYX was the Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm. It was my very first liquid and nude lipstick ever. Though I loved the color and the concept, inexperienced me wasn't a fan of it. It takes years until I finally revive my love to the Soft Matte Lip Cream range and decide to repurchase Stockholm and add new members to the family.

I divide this post into three sections, eyebrows, cheeks and lips product, so let's jump into it.

Eyebrows

NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Black/Gray

NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Espresso

Two NYX eyebrows products that I own are the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in black/gray #01 and NYX Tinted brow mascara in Espresso. These two are impressive as they deliver really good job in defining my brows or faking intense eyebrows yet they are both affordable and stay the whole day.

I have to say I don't use the angled brush provided in the Eyebrow Cake Powder kit as it is too stiff for my liking, I use it to take the wax and set my eyebrows, but the spoolie works perfectly fine. One drawback is you are going to run out of the wax first so you have to purchase clear brow mascara to set your brows.

The Tinted Brow Mascara is definitely my favorite go to brow product when I am in rush. I should have picked brunette instead of espresso but fortunately it still suits my coloring. It was so intense in the beginning so I suggest you to clean the excess product on the brush during first few applications.

Cheeks

The Mosaic Powder in Dare/Ose consists of five different colors. A swirl of it gives you a subtle and glowy peachy pink flush on cheeks. I personally think it will suit fair to light medium skin girls. You need a stiff brush to get the most pigment out of this powder. Do I love this? Yes, I do, as the chance to look like a clown is minimum, but I wish I don't need a stiff brush to get the most out of it.

Lips

Lip products are always and always be my favorite and NYX can't do wrong in terms of creating liquid lip products.

I love the moussey texture of the Soft Matte Lip Cream and I think  the formula has been updated as it lasts longer than the previous one that I owned. Milan and Morocco are on my wish list, besides Abu Dhabi and Prague, so you know how deep my love is to this range.

I also can say that the two sisters of NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream give pretty nice first impression to me though my heart still completely taken by the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream range.

The NYX Lingerie lipstick in Bedtime Flirt definitely lasts almost 6 hours and you need an oil based cleanser to completely remove it as micellar water won't help. It dries down completely matte and transferproof.

The NYX Liquid Suede in Soft-Spoken is more into comforting side compared to the Lingerie or Soft Matte Lip Cream range. I won't say it is hydrating but it is not drying out your lips or dries completely matte. It does transfer a little and feels a bit tacky, but I don't mind it at all.

One thing you need to aware is don't let the packaging of NYX Lingerie and Liquid Suede fool you. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Range contains 8ml of product whille the sisters only contain 4ml of products each and they are slightly more expensive than the Soft Matte Lip Cream.

The last lip product is NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Soft Brown. This is my first lip pencil ever and I am quite sad to know NYX Indonesia doesn't cater this baby again. It is cheap, affordable and I am in love with the light tan brown shade. This is definitely not the creamiest lip pencil ever, but I love the color so much. It is definitely a perfect nude for me so I have to order it online to stock up.

Now, let's jump into swatches of the lip products.

Now, the first lengthy post of NYX cosmetics is done and I can sleep tight.

Take it or Leave it? Bio Oil Review

So long story short, months ago I got scars on both on my calves and below my knees. I don't know exactly why I got them, maybe because of mosquitoes bites which made me scratching my legs like a brutal monkey or because I have a bad habit of pressing my legs on the edge of the table above the mirror while doing my make-up.

As they got worse, I knew it was time to pick something to help reducing my scars, so I went to my local Guardian and decided to give Bio Oil a shot.

Let me tell you I was so skeptical about this product. I remembered I only used it twice or three times after buying it last May. I forgot that I own it until I decluttered my shelf last July and started use it regularly. I wish I had taken a picture before to show you that it works. I personally feel it is pointless to take the after photos now as I don't own the before photos that can help you compare the effectiveness.

So does it work? It works, but it takes time so don't expect instant result. You have to apply it twice a day and regularly to let the product works effectively. If you are unsure, buy the smallest bottle first like I did.

So do I recommend it? Yes, I do. But two thing that you should notice is you should use it regularly and avoid the cause of the scars ( I try hard to not pressing my legs again on the edge of the table).

Does it effective to reduce strech marks or uneven skin tone? I haven't tested it out though I do have strech marks and uneven skin tone on my cheeks, so let me try it first and I am going to deliver the result to you.

Does it helps dehydrated skin? It might, but it doesn't really help my dry and flaky elbows. If you have super dry skin, I recommend you to get Corine De Farme Divine Hydrating Body Lotion instead of Bio Oil.

So take it or leave it? Take it, if you need something to fade scars and leave it, if you need something to combat dryness.

Homeoplasmine Review

If you still remember my Instagram post two months ago when I finally got chance to visit French pharmacy, you might have known that I was freezing and confused as I saw a lot of products inside Maxi Pharma. Now, regret collects like old friends( Yes, Florence) why I didn't pick something from La Roche Posay, Caudalie and Klorane? Why Seruni, why?

But now, let's put my regret aside and jump into my review of Homeoplasmine, a multifuctional ointment that can be used to soothe irritated skin and great for chapped lips.

If you read my blog from beginning, you must have known that I have dry and sensitive lips. Finding a staple to overcome this issue has been one of my beauty goals as cracked lips under a pile of lipstick doesn't look good at all. So when I found out about Homeoplasmine on Byrdie.com, I definitely put it in my wishlist.

What I can say about Homeoplasmine is this hands down the best instant remedy on those days when you have super chapped lips but you need to wear a lipstick, as it quickly softens dry skin on your lips. But it doesn't moisturize yours, it acts more like a barrier or primer which is great if your lips are sensitive as it avoids direct contact with a lipstick.

Another great thing about Homeoplasmine is it helps peeling off dead skin on your lips easily so you don't need to use a lip exfoliator.

Do I recommend this? Yes and no. Yes if you have chance to visit French Pharmacy. I notice it is super expensive in The USA while the main ingredient is Vaseline. I can't give any comparison between Homeoplasmine and Vaseline as I never try Vaseline, but once I try, I'll make sure to compare both of them. Also yes if you need lip primer or something to instantly soften dry lips, but no, if you need something to moisturize your lips.

So this is definitely not the end of the journey, Clarins Lip Serum or Bite Beauty Lip Mask are in my wishlist.

Thank You Note

Six months prior to my birthday was one of the roughest periods I have ever encountered but I am glad that things get milder before my birthday.

I don't have an ability to articulate what I wish I will be, it's either because I am getting older or Yoga teaches me to be content with whatever I have and whoever I am, but making the most of my 24 can be considered as my wish.

And you readers, air, friends, cat, viewers, supporters, sister, stalkers and anyone who spend a little time to check my blog, I can't say anything but thank you, you ignite fire, you give me ambition, a drive of what thing I want to do. It was hard to live a life without clear purposes of living. I remember how depressing it was when I was just doing my day job day by day without a clear reason why.

Wherever you are and whatever you do, let me send you my love to you. If you have rough and bad days, don't give up, everything will be okay at the end.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TOO, INDONESIA

The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer Review

As a girl with olive skin tone, not getting enough sun exposure can wash me out. Blush on and bronzer is definitely things I can't skip or I look dead.

The quest of getting the perfect bronzer isn't easy, most bronzers I have tried are either too light or too orange or it is shimmery. I need a perfect matte bronzer to do light contouring or just to give me a wash of color.

After a careful research here and there, I decided to purchase The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer which has been on my radar for almost 2 or 3 years. Yes, I can be that indecisive.

Why do I finally get my hands on this? The price is one of the main consideration besides quality and color. I consider The Balm as one of affordable choice if you buy it online. The counter price in Indonesia is somewhat crazy expensive due to customs and tax.

Now, let's talk about the packaging, a part that we can't skip if we review anything from The Balm. The cardboard packaging with an exotic pin-up lady print is eye-catching and secured. I personally prefer the cardboard packaging as it secures the product inside. You can throw it on your bag and it won't be broken like my Mary Lou Manizer.

This bronzer is smooth, buttery and versatile. You can use it to warm up, contour your face or apply it as a transition shade of your creases. But beware, you might think this bronzer isn't that pigmented when you swatch it on the back of your hands, but a light handed application is highly suggested as it can be too intense and muddy, especially if you have fair skin.

Personally, I feel this bronzer has the right undertone for me, it isn't too warm or too cool. It isn't orange and it has a bit of greyish undertone which perfect for contouring.

My camera can`t really get the actual color

compared to The Body Shop Bronzing Powder in Deep Matte which leans to orange undertone IRL

Now about the staying power, it stays around 6 or 7 hours on my skin though I notice it fades, but I think if you wear it above a long wearing foundation, it will help the staying power.

Do I recommend this? Yes, if you are on a budget and you are sure this bronzer suits you well.
